5 February

Meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Russian Federation with accreditation in the Republic of Belarus Dr. Siviengphet Phetvorasack was held in the NCMPS on February 5, 2018. The purpose of this visit was to discuss the prospects of developing Belarusian-Lao cooperation in different spheres.

In his welcoming speech, Director of the NCMPS Dr. Valery Sadokho emphasized that the contacts on the highest and high level of both countries had intensified in recent years. In 2013, for the first time in the history of Belarus-Laos relations the President of Laos Choummaly Sayasone and the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith made an official visit to Belarus. Laos is a leader in wood exports in the region. The potential of cooperation is far from being exhausted”, concluded Valery Sadokho.

Dr. Phetvorasack expressed his conviction, that the trade-economic cooperation between two countries still had potential for development. He also underlined, that Laos highly appreciates activities of the Co-chairman of the Belarusian part of the Joint commission – Chairman of the Management Board of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Sergei Roumas.

In the framework of the meeting the parties discussed the prospects of development of Belarus-Laos relations in different spheres. Export potential of Belarus as well as the capacities of the National Centre for Marketing and Price Study in assisting companies in developing their foreign economic activity were presented to the Lao side.

The meeting solemnly ended with the awarding of Valery Sadokho with the Lao Medal of Friendship.
