Belarusian-French business forum was held in Minsk on October 26

The 5th Belarusian-French Business Forum was held on October 26 at the Europe Hotel in Minsk. The organizers are the National Centre for Marketing in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the French Republic and the Minsk City Executive Committee. The main topics discussed at the event were bilateral trade and economic cooperation, investment, export and joint projects.

«Our main task as the organizers of this forum is to make Belarusian and French businessmen meet more often, find a common ground, new topics for trade, economic and investment cooperation, and our French colleagues can learn the conditions for doing business in Belarus», — the director of the National Centre for Marketing Valery Sadokho noted during the opening of the business forum. Speaking about promising areas of cooperation he singled out agriculture, nuclear energy and construction.


«France is an important partner for our country. Economic cooperation is certainly one of the priorities of the dialogue between Belarus and France, — Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Kravchenko said in his welcoming speech. — Annual meetings of representatives of business circles of the two countries have become a good tradition. This confirms the steady interest of our countries in the development of mutually beneficial economic cooperation. Many businessmen took part in such events, established business contacts that are key to further successful economic cooperation».

The diplomat also noted that in 2017 there was an increase in mutual trade turnover after three years of decline. There was an increase in both Belarusian exports to France and French imports to Belarus. The volume of supplies of traditional products for mutual trade has grown. In addition new commodity items appeared investment cooperation was developed.


Currently 63 organizations with French investments are registered in the Republic of Belarus. The largest companies that have been successfully operating in Belarus for a long time are Peugeot-Citroen, Renault, Danone, Sanofi, Lactalis and others.

«We will welcome the entry into our market and other investors from France especially since Belarus has created favorable conditions for investment activity», — Oleg Kravchenko summarized.

Delegations of ministries and departments of the two countries met at the forum site. From the French side the event was attended by representatives of 20 companies of the construction and engineering industries, the textile industry, aircraft industry as well as travel and consulting companies. On the Belarusian side – about 40 companies.



During the forum a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Centre for Marketing and the French Association of Entrepreneurs Medef (MEDEF INTERNATIONAL). This cooperation will allow businessmen of the two countries to find new partners and increase investments.

The forum included presentations of Belarusian and French companies with successful experience in implementing joint projects in Belarus. The framework agreements on cooperation in the field of education and culture were also signed. In addition, during the business forum, the creation of the Belarusian-French Association for the Development of Economic Cooperation «BelFrantorginvest» was announced».
