Belarus-Latvia Business Forum took place in Vitebsk

On November 29, 2018 Belarus-Latvia Business Forum took place in Vitebsk within the framework of the “Days of Latvian Municipalities in Vitebsk” devoted to celebration of 100th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Latvia. The organizer of the event was the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Belarus, Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Vitebsk, Latvian Investment and Development Agency, the Society for Promotion of Latvia-Belarus Economic Relations, Latvian Chamber for Commerce and Industry, Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments and others.

Within the framework of the Business-Forum the Director of the Vitebsk branch of the National Centre for Marketing, Mr. Vsevolod Pervitsky, made a presentation of the possibilities of the National Centre for Marketing in the part of assistance to Belarus and Latvia companies in the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Belarus-Latvia Business Forum was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Mr. Nikolai Sherstnev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Belarus, H.E. Dr. Martins Virsis, the Aid to the President of the Republic of Belarus – Inspector for Vitebsk Oblast, Mr. Vitaly Vovk and other officials.

Among the members from the Latvia Side were the heads of the state administrative bodies, local and regional governments, organizations and light industry manufacturers, timber trade, transport and logistics, finance and trade from 19 regions of Latvia.

During sections the members discussed the issues of interregional cooperation and the prospects of joint work in the spheres of construction, power industry, industry, transport and logistics, light and food industries. The experience of introducing modern water and heat metering programs in apartment buildings was reviewed at a workshop. There were also presentations of the tourism potential of the Vitebsk region and Latvia.

During the event, B2B negotiations were held on the establishment and development of cooperation in various fields, including logistics, woodworking. A number of bilateral cooperation agreements have been signed between local governments, enterprises and organizations, educational institutions of the Vitebsk region and the regions of Latvia.
