The benefits of e-commerce were discussed today at the UAE export webinar

On September 17, a webinar for Belarusian enterprises interested in entering the UAE and Middle East markets was held at the National Marketing Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus. The event was organized with the aim of assisting Belarusian exporters in entering the UAE market with the participation of IQ Fulfillment (UAE) and MCE Advisory Business & Finance Experts (UAE).

The webinar discussed issues of increasing the level of knowledge in the field of UAE legislation regulating the import of goods, creating a business in the UAE and its further development. The emphasis was placed on the benefits of e-commerce for exporters and the use of international marketplaces for this purpose.

“The UAE is the fastest growing e-commerce market in the Gulf and North Africa region, and 2019 has been declared the year of online shopping in the UAE,” said Mark Khayat, Vice President of Commercial Operations at IQ Fulfillment, and stressed that this trend is promoted, first of all, by the high digital penetration in the country. Thus, the penetration of mobile phones in the UAE is a record number in the world, and residents are among the top ten countries with the maximum time spent on the Internet and social networks. The consequence of digital penetration is the increase in the number of electronic wallets. The expert noted that e-commerce transactions in the UAE totaled $ 16 billion in 2019 and are projected to grow by 23% on an annualized basis between 2018 and 2022.

Within the framework of the seminar, a favorable opportunity was noted for newcomers precisely through e-commerce to avoid distributors' services in an unfamiliar market, and, thus, significantly increase the competitiveness of their goods in terms of the price factor. Webinar attendees also learned that market research is the most effective step to entering a new market.

More than 30 representatives of Belarusian companies joined the webinar. The National Marketing Center will continue to work on comprehensive support for domestic enterprises interested in entering the UAE market.
