Chinese delegation from Shanghai visited the National Centre for Marketing

On July 26, 2018 a meeting with representatives of the New Pudong (Pudong) district of Shanghai was held in the National Centre for Marketing. The delegation was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the People's Government of the region, Mr. Chen Si.

The parties discussed the preparation of the National Exposition of the Republic of Belarus at the 1st China International Import Exhibition «Import Expo», which will be held on November 5-10 in Shanghai. The First Deputy Director of the National Centre for Marketing Alexander Zapolski invited the delegation of the Pudong District to visit the National Pavilion of the Republic of Belarus as guests of honor.

Mr. Chen Si noted the positive tendencies in the Belarusian-Chinese relations. He believes that development of cooperation will be facilitated by the participation of Belarus in the exhibition «Import Expo».

The most promising areas for Belarus in cooperation with the Pudong district are trade and tourism, Mr. Chen noted. Negotiations are underway on opening of direct flights from Shanghai to Minsk, which will help to increase the flow of Chinese tourists to Belarus, Mr. Chen Si believes. He also invited Belarusian exporters to participate in exhibitions that are held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre: more than 60 events are held there every year. The parties agreed to cooperate in the areas, which were discussed during the meeting. 

Background information

The New Pudong district of Shanghai is equivalent to a city of sub-provincial level. Its population over 5 million people; the district's GDP in 2017 amounted to 100 billion Euros (economic growth of 8.7%). More than 400 transnational companies and enterprises operating within China established their headquarters in Pudong.
